Sodium Alginate, Sodium Bicarbonate, and Calcium Carbonate Oral Suspension is a combination medication used to treat symptoms of gastrointestinal acid reflux, such as heartburn, indigestion, and acid regurgitation. It is often referred to as a "double action" or anti-reflux antacid formula.
How It Works
Reflux Barrier (Sodium Alginate): When it comes into contact with stomach acid, sodium alginate forms a gel-like barrier (often called a "raft") that floats on top of the stomach contents. This physically blocks stomach acid from rising up into the food pipe (esophagus).
Acid Neutralization (Sodium Bicarbonate & Calcium Carbonate): These components act as rapid antacids. They chemically neutralize excess stomach acid on contact, providing quick relief from burning discomfort.
